Wines in Beverage Stations:

Gateway Vinho Verde  Hints of crisp green apple and grapefruit, fresh and appealing. Floral and aromatic herb expressions, bringing a lively, fresh character, supplemented by a delicate touch of fizz on the finish.

Gateway Vinho Verde Rose Lively strawberry and red currant complemented with floral notes. It is well balanced with good acidity and fresh fruity notes, young, crisp with a smooth and delicate finish.

Astoria Primo Rosso Voluptuous red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot, that is very approachable with smooth flavors of dark fruit lined with hints of chocolate finishing with soft tannins.

Wines in Jazz &Wine Pavilion only:

Cartlidge & Brown Sauvignon Blanc Herbaceous and  refreshing lemongrass and citrusy green apple greets you upon uncorking this lovely wine. Slight mineral tastes and white peach tease your palate and leave you with a smooth, light finish.

  1. An intense aroma of grapefruit and peach pit, with a juicy, fruity blast on the palate followed by an acid-driven dryness of the finish.

Bonterra Chardonnay An initial impression of rich, buttery cream quickly turns to toasted aromas of honey and lightly toasted almonds, followed by tropical aromas of pineapple, citrusy lemon and creme brulee.

Heron Pinot Noir Ripe red berry and black cherry fruit balance its delicate spiciness.

Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon Opens with aromas of black cherry, plum and violets, followed by subtle flavors of stawberry and allspice. Firn yet supple tannins finish off this approachable fruit-driven wine.

Craft Beer

It all started with two characters created by local artist, Chris Vance – Bucktoothed Blonde and One-Eyed Red. These characters were the driving force behind the craft beer movement at the Festival. The Festival teamed up with local brewery, Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Co. (CABCo.) to use these characters as a starting point to produce a specialty red beer as well as a blonde wheat beer to be served at the Festival. In 2013, we were proud to introduce One-Eyed Red's sassy younger sister, Sassy Saison!  Sassy is a Belgian Farmhouse Ale with spicy and fruity aromas and flavors from the Saison yeast.  It is light in color and has a dry, crisp, easy finish. Both beers will be available on-site at all four beverage stations.

The Festival features an unbelievable selection of Budweiser products and our friends at Doll Distributing. Our menu includes Budweiser Aluminum, Bud Light Aluminum, Bud Light Lime Aluminum, Curious Traveler, Raz-Ber-Ritas, Michelob Ultra Aluminum, Stella Artois, Samuel Adams Boston Lager, Angry Orchard, Modelo and the non-alcoholic O’Doul’s.

Please direct questions to James Bruton.

In addition to our specialty brewed Sassy Saison and One-Eyed Red, the Des Moines Arts Festival is proud to partner with the Iowa Craft Beer Tent to bring Iowans the very best craft beers from across the state.  Stay tuned for the 2015 menu of craft beers.
