Scarred for Life is a leather-worker from Bay View, WI. Our love for leather began at a young age while working with grandfather, who reupholstered vehicles. Simple designs and classic stitching techniques are a signature in our pieces. Most leather items are made with repurposed materials from a Milwaukee tannery and every scrap is used or donated to other artists and schools around the country. Most pieces display our favorite metal clasp and highlight the rough edge of the leather. What’s with the name? One of the reasons we love leather is the character that it has! Our favorite leather is distressed and full of color variations, burns, brands and scars. If you look closely, Jen (the artist) has a scar on her forehead from an epic sword fight in 8th grade. Well, the sword may have been a plastic oar and it may have won, but Jen is proud to wear this badge of honor! Just like the leather, we show the world our resilience on our skin. We celebrate life’s imperfections - that is where character lies in our eyes. We strive to create lasting accessories that you can love as they change.
