Timothy White is a mixed media artist who comes from a background in fine furniture making. His current body of work is a series of evocative mixed media panels, entitled “American Prosperity”, which explore the unknown stories of abandodned buildings through the use of photographic images, paint, concrete, pastels and other materials. Tim began his career as a furniture maker in 1984. His training includes work and informal apprenticeships with both Gary DiPirro, a traditional furniture maker, and contemporary furniture master Richard Scott Newman, with whom he worked for 8 years in Rochester, NY. Additionally, Tim has partnered with his wife, Alison, in Alison White Photography, where he has worked in a variety of roles since 2004. Over time, and with the aid of many experiences and influences, Tims work has evolved into mixed media art. His current series explores the themes of place, abandonment, and the unknowable nature of many of the stories surrounding places that people have left behind. A recovering perfectionist, Tim now embraces a more wabi sabi outlook on life and work. Originally from Buffalo, NY, he has lived in Crested Butte, CO since 1996. Outside of work, Tim spends his time with his wife and son playing in the mountains around his home. He enjoys loud music, art, skiing and biking, among other things.
