Founded in 1956 as the Festival Manager's Association, the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA World) today is ‘The Premiere Association Supporting and Enabling Festival & Event Professionals Worldwide.’ In partnership with global affiliates under the umbrellas of IFEA Africa, IFEA Asia, IFEA Australia / New Zealand, IFEA Europe, IFEA Latin America, IFEA Middle East, and IFEA North America, the organization's common vision is for "A Globally United Industry that Touches Lives in a Positive Way through Celebration." Toward that end, we now also count “IFEA Academia,” providing a common home for students, faculty and institutions around the world who share a festival and event management focus and a common goal of preparing future industry leaders; a forum for important industry-related research and discussions; and an effective junction of the academic and professional pathways of our industry.
The IFEA exists to serve the needs of our entire industry, all those who share our core values of excellence & quality; the sharing of experience, knowledge, creativity and best practices; and the importance of "community" building both locally and globally. Our success lies in the success of those we serve through professional education, programming, products and resources, networking and representation.
The IFEA enjoys the active support of over 2000 Premiere Members, a self-selected group of industry leading professionals and organizations who continue to set and raise the bar for themselves and everyone in our industry with regard to creativity, quality, professionalism, experience, and success. These members (including all event categories, budget and attendance levels), while representing only a part of the festivals and events industry as a whole, have learned the value of active and continued involvement with their professional peers at the highest levels and have set themselves apart from the pack. They represent the very best of our industry brand and through their involvement the IFEA is able to build a stronger foundation for our common industry.
The IFEA is headquartered in Boise, Idaho, in the northwestern United States and in 2015 will celebrate its 60th Anniversary. . The organization's offices are located in the historic Boise Train Depot. The following historical information was written for that occasion:
The IFEA exists to serve the needs of our entire industry, who produce and support quality celebrations for the benefit of their respective 'communities' and all those who share our core values of excellence & quality; the sharing of experience, knowledge, creativity and best practices; and the importance of 'community' building both locally and globally. Our success lies in the success of those we serve through professional education, programming, products and resources, networking and representation.
Begun in 1995, the National Association of Independent Artists (NAIA) is a membership-based 501c6 nonprofit trade organization that serves to enhance the economic well-being of people who exhibit their artwork at quality outdoor and indoor art and/or fine craft shows, encourage creative expression and artistic excellence, and expand public awareness, appreciation and acquisition of fine art and fine craft. Further, the organization serves as an advocate for artists. It is committed, by positive and cooperative means, to promote improvement throughout the industry. The NAIA has become the artists' collective and most effective voice as it continues to grow and gain recognition. The organization is led by a dedicated volunteer board of directors, volunteers and advocates.
The NAIA actively works to be a valuable resource for not only artists, but also the organizers and directors of art shows.

ZAPP® enables individual artists to apply online to multiple art shows through one central website, ZAPPlication.org. The online application process also allows artists to directly upload digital images of their artwork for jury review. The result is that all artwork in the system is in a consistent, high-quality, digital format. The digital images are presented to the jurors of each show and the system allows them to score online.
The Art Week Team is a group of art enthusiasts in the Des Moines area that are dedicated to seeing broader participation and support of the local art scene. Art week 2015 is the inagural event that stemmed from work by David Safris and Liz Adelman to promote and pursue the initial Art Week idea.
By joining collectively to promote events, encourage venues to host events, and encouraging artists to participate in Art Week we can create a full calendar of events that is capped at the end of the week by the Des Moines Arts Festival.

Celebrating the Western Imagination through the Arts
The Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) is a regional nonprofit arts service organization whose mission is to strengthen the financial, organizational, and policy infrastructure of the arts in the West. This is accomplished by assisting state arts agencies, arts organizations, and artists in their quest to serve diverse audiences, enrich the lives of local communities, and provide access to the arts and arts education for all citizens. Through innovation, advocacy, and grantmaking, WESTAF encourages the creative development and preservation of the arts regionally and through a national network of customers and alliances.
Founded in 1974, WESTAF is located in Denver and governed by a 22-member board of trustees comprised of arts leaders in the West. The organization serves the largest constituent territory of the six U.S. regional arts organizations that includes the state arts agencies, artists, and arts organizations of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawai’i, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
WESTAF is engaged in several projects designed to increase the region's capacity for advocacy aimed at advancing public support for the arts in the West. Twice annually, executive directors of western state arts agencies meet to discuss ways to move support for these agencies forward. WESTAF’s annual Arts Leadership and Advocacy Seminar brings a small group of arts leaders from the West to Washington, DC to meet with members of Congress and to engage in briefings regarding the status and future prospects for federal arts support. WESTAF also provides advocacy support to state and local arts agencies throughout the region, including assistance in funding advocacy work in the states and developing effective advocacy messaging.
WESTAF regularly convenes experts and leaders from a variety of fields both inside and outside the arts to address critical issues that affect arts and culture. In 2014, WESTAF held its 15th annual cultural policy symposium, Creativity and Innovation in Public Education: Areas of Need, Mechanisms for Change. The symposium brought together scholars and practitioners for a lively discussion on the research and policy work needed to advance creativity and innovation in public education. Learn more by visiting theAdvocacy and Policy section of the site.
WESTAF is an experienced research organization that regularly initiates research projects to benefit the state arts agencies of the West as well as the broader arts community. WESTAF’s most recent major research project is the Creative Vitality™ Suite (CVSuite™), a research-based economic development tool that provides high quality creative economy data and reporting. Read more about the CVSuite on our Research and Publicationspage.
WESTAF is also an experienced developer of technology systems that benefit the arts and creative industries. Learn more about WESTAF's eight distinct offerings by visiting our Technology page.
As a progressive and evolving organization, WESTAF initiates new programs and projects regularly and is proud to have artists, musicians, and arts administrators on staff. WESTAF remains committed to the improvement of the the capacity and quality of public funding of the arts by the state arts agencies of the West. Position papers, advisory research, and professional development services are regularly provided to these agencies. WESTAF is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
