Interactive arts activities are one of the four main pillars of the arts featured each year at the Des Moines Arts Festival®. Throughout the Festival, guests of all ages have the opportunity to get creative and hands-on with art, music, dance and more! These activities can be found throughout the Festival at sponsor booths, the Creative Kid’s Zone and even electronically though texts.
Des Moines Art Center Interactive Sculpture Project
Join Bank of America and the Des Moines Art Center to create a larger-than-life inverted ice cream cone. Thousands of people will contribute their personal touch in creating this 30 foot by 25 foot public work of art! Guests will create flowers made from recycled plastic bags that are bright and colorful. Volunteers will help guests place the flowers into the sculptural form. Guests can watch this large-scale sculpture come together, literally piece-by-piece, over the course of the three days of the Festival. The Interactive Sculpture Project will be at the corner of 13th and Grand Avenue. Special thanks to Jessica Hensley, Hubbell Homes, Tim Hickman, Gilcrest/Jewett, Tyler Kirkholm, Salon W., Substance Architecture Interiors Design, and Brett Wilson, for their support.
